The Creation Process

How do we get the ashes to Angel Glass?

When you have ordered your glass art memorial, we will send you an ordering pack that contains everything you need to securely package and ship the ashes to Angel Glass. Send us the ashes in the pre-paid shipping bag to Angel Glass. Send as little as one tablespoon of ashes. After the glass art memorial has been created any leftover ashes will be returned.

How long does it take?

The process can take 4-6 weeks after receiving the ashes. As an official member of the New Zealand Funeral Association, the ashes are delivered by special courier service so you can be at ease knowing that ashes are transported with utmost care.

How do the ashes get added to glass art?

Layers of hot molten glass (1100 degrees Celsius) are collected on the blowpipe and rolled over the ashes on a stainless steel table, ashes naturally adhere to the hot molten glass and are then covered in another layer of hot glass encasing the ashes, further layers of molten glass are added depending on the desired size, once complete the memorial is placed in an annealing kiln to cool down slowly overnight. This slow cooling is essential to prevent cracking from sudden temperature changes. The following day the memorial is complete and ready for engraving and or shipping.

You can illuminate your memorial with a small base lamp, keep it in view in your home or make a garden memorial.

Angel Glass look forward to creating a beautiful memorial to honour the precious person in your life.
