Hayley Maria has been a glass artist for over 20 years, starting with stained glass for a decade, fusing and casting but the ultimate in glass in her opinion is glass blowing and sculpting, which led to training in Whanganui in glass blowing. Selling out her entire end-of-year exhibition was all the encouragement Hayley needed to pursue a career in Glass. 

Shortly after graduating Hayley invited Martin Janecky from the Czech Republic to NZ and had a successful tour and workshop with Martin known as one of the world’s greatest contemporary glass blowers.

Hayley graduated with a master’s degree in art and design in 2006 where she made a divinatory text using abstract images of water to elicit the meanings of the major arcana of Tarot, a lifelong fascination with the concept of divinity. Hayley’s Angel Glass designs offer her the opportunity to continue her passion through the lens of glass to honour the sacred.

Hayley is based on Waiheke Island, Auckland. With so many requests for memorials from friends and family, she now specialises in this service.
